About Me

I’m a 600 hour, instrument pilot and have been flying about 7 years. My flying is strictly for pleasure. I am based at Chicago Executive, KPWK, and fly to East coast and Florida destinations to visit children and friends.

My Panel (Before and After)

I own the plane with one partner and enjoy the fact that everything costs half! We purchased the plane in late 2006 and immediately upgraded the avionics from the original equipment to new Garmin 430 WAAS, second nav-com, a panel mounted 496, mode S transponder, and full audio panel. This gave us traffic on the 430 and weather on the 496, a really handy combo. A new aluminum panel replaced the original plastic panel.The Aspen was added in the summer of 2009.

My Aspen Experience

The Aspen was installed for instrument training and has been a real joy to work with. Its features put everything you need in one location, making the scan a breeze. One feature I particularly like the the actual course indicator. Just keep it on the HSI’s course pointer and wind correction is taken care of.
