Cessna TR182 Skylane 1982
Owner: Robert Roth
My Panel (Before and After)
My panel was the standard Cessna “six pack” plus two VOR receivers, one of which has a glide slope. There is also a CNX80/Garmin480 in the panel. The aircraft has a Cessna 400B Navomatic autopilot, which will track to a localizer and intercept and follow a glideslope to the airport. The intercept and glideslope functions work with both ILS and GPS (LPV) approaches.
My Aspen Experience
The Aspen’s analog output talks to my autopilot and conveys the information from my WAAS certified CNX80/Garmin 480 unit to the Cessna 400B autopilot. The Aspen unit is relatively uncomplicated and easy to use. The information on the HSI similar to the Sandel HSI, as it shows navigational points and airports when ranged properly. The GPSS function is especially handy when coupled with the CNX80/Garmin 480 unit, as it will follow the GPS course exactly and will also perform entries and holds automatically.
