About Me

I am an instrument-rated pilot and an early adopter of new avionics technology and gadgetry. I bought my Ovation in 2004 and have completely fabricated a new panel, complete with the Aspen EFD1000 Pro, an MVP-50 EICAS and a Garmin 696 all flush mounted in the new panel. A WX500 stormscope and Avidyne TAS600 traffic system are integrated into the MX20 and GNS480 avionics.

My Panel (Before and After)

My previous panel had a mixture of old and new instruments and gauges. The layout was cluttered and my instrument scan had to be pretty wide to see all of the avionics and other instruments. Not the best platform for IFR, and definitely in need of a new look and feel.

My Aspen Experience

The central part of the upgrade was the new EFD1000 Pro. Its display is the centerpiece of the panel and makes flying so much easier.
