My Panel (Before and After)
My Cheetah was well equipted for IFR flight prior to the Aspen upgrade. A Garmin GNS-430W for primary NAV/COM, a Narco NAV-121, MX11 COM, Narco AT165 digital transponder, Garmin GMA-340 audio panel, and EDM-800 engine analyzer. I wanted to add the Aspen as a central integration medium for a new STEC-30 autopilot to take advantage of roll steering native with Aspen and add a new level of IFR capability that only Aspen could provide at a resonable price point for my airframe.
My Aspen Experience
The Aspen EFD1000 Pro has fully met my expectations of simplifying single pilot IFR. Longer trips are easier to make now with the integration of the GNS-430, STEC-30, and Narco NAV-121 facilitated by the Aspen system. It is very cool monitoring the PFD throughout a GPS precision approach. All the information you need is presented, and easy to read, on the EFD1000.
