Aspen Avionics’ Transport Canada STC Expanded

Albuquerque, NM, March 3, 2010: Aspen Avionics, manufacturer of the innovative Evolution Flight Display System, announced today an amendment to the Transport Canada Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) that grants installation approval of the system in Canada. The amended STC now enables all aircraft on Aspen’s Approved Model List (AML) of over 700 aircraft to install the Evolution Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Multi-Function Display (MFD) product lines. It also recognizes a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) allowance to remove most mechanical backup flight instruments upon installation of Aspen’s Evolution PFD and MFD with DuoSafeTM capabilities.

The benefit to Canada-based owners and operators is that now all aircraft registered in Canada that fall under Aspen’s AML have an approval path to install Aspen’s feature-rich glass cockpit solution. The Aspen Evolution Flight Display System is an affordable, expandable and upgradable PFD, MFD and hazard sensor cockpit solution for general aviation aircraft. Highly compatible with existing aircraft avionics, the flexible Evolution Flight Display System lets aircraft owners install all Evolution Flight Displays and options at once, or separately, as their needs and budgets permit.

This milestone reflects Aspen’s commitment to work with Transport Canada to expand the STC to include many other aircraft manufactured outside the USA and Canada. Through an existing agreement with the FAA, Transport Canada already accepts FAA STCs issued for aircraft manufactured in the USA.

“Aspen is serious about expanding our customer base and the availability of our products on a global level. The strength of our relationship with Transport Canada and other aviation authorities around the world are key to this effort,” says Director of Marketing Brad Hayden. “Transport Canada has allowed us to bring our award-winning products and customer support to more Canadian aircraft owners and operators who will benefit from our safety enhancing and affordable glass cockpit solutions,” he continued.

The complete AML-STC approval list can be found at www.aspenavionics.com/approvals.

Aspen Avionics and Chippewa Aerospace Partner on Helicopter STCs

Albuquerque, NM, February 20, 2010: Aspen Avionics, Inc., manufacturer of the award-winning Evolution Flight Display System, and Chippewa Aerospace, a leading aerospace engineering service firm, announce their partnership to develop a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for installation of the Aspen Evolution EFD1000H Pro Primary Flight Display (PFD), the EFD1000H Multi-Function Display (MFD), and the EFD500H MFD on the Robinson R22 and R44 and the Eurocopter AS350 and AS355 model helicopters.

The EFD1000H and EFD500H product series is the latest addition to the Evolution Flight Display System and is designed and manufactured to meet the rigors of helicopter operations. Aspen’s EFD1000H Pro PFD enables rotorcraft operators to replace their legacy mechanical flight instruments with state-of-the-art electronic displays that include robust Attitude and Heading Reference Sensors (AHRS) technology and a built-in backup battery. Adding the EFD1000H MFD or the EFD500H MFD as a second display can provide detailed moving maps, terrain awareness, and (with optional or existing sensors) traffic displays. The EFD1000H MFD contains a fully redundant set of AHRS and can function as a back up PFD through a single button push reversionary mode.

“Chippewa has been great to work with every step of the way in developing this customer solution and their partnership is important to our success in the helicopter market,” says Anson Gray, Aspen’s Helicopter Sales Manager. “We know that helicopter operators have unique needs. The EFD1000H and the EFD500H are rugged, reliable, and affordable glass cockpit solutions for helicopter owners and operators looking to upgrade their panel,” he adds.

“Chippewa is very excited to be working with Aspen Avionics for these helicopter STCs,” says Todd Curtis, Chippewa’s Vice President of Business Development. He adds, “The Aspen System will revolutionize the helicopter glass cockpit market and coupled with our STC, we will be able to provide the best turn-key solution available.”

The Aspen Evolution Flight Display System is an affordable, expandable and upgradeable PFD, MFD and hazard sensor cockpit solution for general aviation aircraft. Highly compatible with existing avionics already in the panel, the flexible Evolution Flight Display System lets aircraft owners install all Evolution Flight Displays and options at once, or separately, as their needs and budgets permit.

The expected availability of the STC for the R44/R22 models is Q2 2010 and Q3 2010 for the AS350/AS355 models. The company has recently released an STC for the Bell 206 series helicopter and installation packages are now available. Additional partner STC efforts are currently underway which will include several new helicopter models.

Aspen Avionics will be demonstrating the new EFD1000H at Heli Expo February 21 through 23 in Houston, TX. Aspen will be located in booth #2304.

Albuquerque, NM, February 16, 2010: Aspen Avionics, Inc., manufacturer of the award-winning Evolution Flight Display System, announces the approval of a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for installation of the Aspen EFD1000H into the Bell 206 and Bell 407 model helicopters. This STC was developed in partnership with Keystone Helicopters.

The EFD1000H is the latest addition to the Evolution Flight Display System. Designed and manufactured to meet the rigors of helicopter operations, Aspen’s EFD1000H enables rotorcraft operators to replace their legacy mechanical flight instruments with state-of-the-art electronic displays with little to no modification of the existing panel.

“This certification project has been many months in the making and we are looking forward to offering the Evolution glass panel system to Bell owners and operators,” says Anson Gray, Aspen’s Helicopter Sales Manager. “The EFD1000H’s lightweight, compact form and specially designed vibration-isolating kit will be a huge plus for helicopter operators looking for a glass cockpit upgrade,” he adds.

“Aspen Avionics brings to rotary operators the same great benefits of upgradability, compatibility, and customization that has made the Evolution System so popular with fixed-wing owners,” said John Uczekaj, President and CEO Aspen Avionics. He adds, “Of particular benefit to those operators working in high pressure environments such as law enforcement and medical transportation, the Aspen Evolution System provides phenomenal situational awareness that enhances safety and reduces pilot workload.”

Aspen Avionics will be demonstrating the new EFD1000H at Heli Expo February 21 through 23 in Houston, TX. Aspen will be located in booth #2304.

The EFD1000H PFD is the lowest priced certified EFIS in the helicopter market. Aspen units are available only through Aspen Avionics Authorized Dealers. A complete list of dealers and detailed product information can be found at www.aspenavionics.com/index.php/where-to-buy/.
